EXODUS 7: 8-13
And the LORD spoke unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, “When Pharoah shall speak unto you, saying, Show a miracle for you: then you shall say to Aaron, Take your rod, and cast it before Pharoah, and it shall become a snake.” (v. 8-9) [Continue reading in your bible through verse 13]
It is vital to understand that God knows all things before they occur—God knew that Pharoah would harden his heart even in the face of supernatural proofs that GOD is the only true and living God. Even so, understand that God also knows you and calls you to a high life with Him in his precious Son, our LORD and Savior, Jesus the Messiah.
THIS FIRST SIGN—AARON’S ROD TURNING TO A SNAKE AND THEN SWALLOWING THE SNAKES OF THE NECROMANCERS (THE MINISTERS OF DEATH) —WAS ONLY THE BEGINNING OF GOD DEMONSTRATING TO THE WORLD SYSTEM THAT THE GOD OF ABRAHAM, ISAAC AND JACOB, THE GOD OF THE HEBREWS, THE GOD AND FATHER OF OUR LORD JESUS THE MESSIAH, IS THE ONLY TRUE AND LIVING GOD.
Soon there would be ten plagues, all supernatural, that would completely dismantle the Religion of Death which Egypt embodied in the ritual practice of necromancy (communion with the dead). The Passover that followed the plagues demonstrates the Death of Death through the Blood of the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. (John 1:29) When Aaron’s rod-snake swallowed the rod-shakes of this priestly caste within Egypt, and then turned back into a rod after consuming the rods of the pagan priests, it initiated the end of Death as the reigning spirit over creation, over humanity. (1 Corinthians 15:55-57)
At the end of the Torah, In Deuteronomy 30:19 (with context), God speaks through Moses and says, “…I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both you and your seed may live” (by cleaving unto the LORD who IS your life).
In the Gospel, the truth of this is brought even more near to us in the Person of the Son, for Jesus declares to us in John 14:6, “I AM the Way, the Truth and THE LIFE.” John the Beloved Apostle elaborates on this in his first letter, chapter one, saying, “That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of Life (for the LIFE was MANIFESTED, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and show unto you that ETERNAL LIFE, which was WITH THE FATHER, AND WAS MANIFESTED UNTO US)…we declare unto you.” (1 John 1:1-2)
In all generations this same issue is brought to the fore: each of us is confronted with the reality that God in Messiah has conquered Death and has brought to us ETERNAL LIFE IN HIS BELOVED SON. (John 3:3-18)
The head dress of Pharoah had a serpent over the forehead: the sign of the deceiving angel that seduced humanity away from God in the Garden of Eden and that brought the ruin of Death into human experience. THIS FIRST SIGN performed by the hand of the Prophet-Priest Aaron uprooted that wicked thing from its controlling position over the mind of man.
May the LORD reveal to your spirit today that the satanic spirit has been conquered by Christ. You are no longer its slave. Rip it out of your thoughts and cast it from you. Let the sacrifice of Jesus who was lifted up to destroy the works of Satan loose you from all bondages that emanate from sin and death. Speak it out. Confess it. Claim it. Move by the Spirit in the power of our LORD’S sacrifice and resurrection.
You were created to live; now you have been born-again unto eternal life in Christ Jesus the Son of God. Exercise yourself in his life and walk with him in the discipline of faith. Put to death the motions of the sinful nature (“the flesh”). You are more than a conqueror through Him who loves you.
