FI Y4 WK 25 P. TZAV (He commanded)— TENDING THE FIRE

KEY BIBLE VERSES:
*THE PARASHAH SECTION FOR THIS DEVOTION IS LEVITICUS 6:1-6, “THE PERPETUAL FIRE”

*HEBREWS 12:29, “OUR GOD IS CONSUMING FIRE” (cf. The Burning Bush of Exodus 3, “…and the bush was not consumed”—Hebrew shoresh, A’CHAL—”eat.”

*Leviticus 6:3. “…of what the fire consumed”—“ASHER TO’CHAL HA’EISH ET-HA’OH’LAH AL—HAM’MIZ’BEI’ACH” (“…THE BURNT OFFERING WHICH THE FIRE ATE UPON THE ALTAR”)

*1 Samuel 3:3 w/ context, Eli lost the priesthood due in large part to the fact that he and his wicked sons permitted the perpetual fire on the altar of the LORD to go out.

*Matthew 25:8, The five foolish virgins who let their lamps go out were not able to enter the wedding once the door was shut.

THE THEME OF THIS DEVOTION IS SIMPLE:
TEND THE FIRE THAT THE LORD HAS GRACIOUSLY LIT ON THE ALTAR OF YOUR HEART AND DO NOT FORSAKE IT.
*Every day when you rise tend the fire.
*Every night before you go to bed, tend the fire. *Throughout the day, as you go through the world, tend the fire of Holy Communion with the Spirit of God.

I sense that I should end the devotion here. It is for you to ponder these things and to apply them in prayer to your own heart and soul in the Presence of our LORD and His Holy Spirit.

By the way—
Husbands and wives—tend the fire of your devoted love for each other.
Parents and children—tend the fire of respect, honor and devotion to each other.
Friends—tend the fire of your covenantal love for each other.
All—tend the fire of the love of God for humanity and do not let your heart grow cold to those who have been made in God’s image.
