FI Y4 WK 23: PEKUDEI (Reckonings) A JOB WELL DONE

THE THEME OF THIS DEVOTION IS:
It is possible to obey the will of God. Therefore, let us unite to do it.

The Torah passage (Exodus 39:32-43),

VA’TEY’CHEL KOL—A’VO’DAT MISH’KAN O’HEL MOH’EYD
Thus was finished all the work of the Tabernacle of the Tent of Meeting.

VA’YA’ASU B’NEI YIS’RA’EL CE’KOL A’SHER TZI’VAH Y”H ET-MO’SHE
And the children of Israel made all that THE LORD had commanded Moses.

KEYN A’SU
Yes—they did so.
[Owens, intensified]

The Gospel passage (Matthew 25:23),

[From the Parable of the Talents],
“His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things: enter into the joy of your lord.”

A JOB WELL DONE.

It is fitting that we should unite the Torah passage with the Gospel passage because both speak of the completion of the work for which the workers were endowed of their LORD. Betzalel and the Children of Israel; and The Disciples of our Lord Jesus.

Notice the intricacy and beauty of the Torah passage beginning with verse 33:

“And they brought the tabernacle unto Moses, the tent, and all its furniture, its taches, its boards, its bars, and its pillars, and its sockets,
“And the covering of rams’ skins dyed red, and covering of badgers’ skins, and the vail of the covering,
“The ark of the testimony, and the staves thereof, and the mercy seat,
“The table, and all the vessels thereof, and the shewbread,
“The pure candlestick, with the lamps thereof, even with the lamps to be set in order, and all the vessels thereof, and the oil for light,
“And the golden altar, and the anointing oil, and the sweet incense, and the hanging for the tabernacle door,
“The brazen altar, and its grate of brass, its staves, and all its vessels, the laver and its foot,
“The hangings of the court, its pillars, and its sockets, and the hanging for the court gate, its cords, and its pins, and all the vessels of the service of the tabernacle, for the tent of the congregation,
“The cloths of service to do service in the holy place, and the holy garments for Aaron the priest, and his sons’ garments, to minister in the priest’s office.

“According to all that the LORD commanded Moses, so the children of Israel made all the work.
“And Moses did look upon all the work, and, behold, they had done it as the LORD had commanded, even so had they done it: and Moses blessed them.”

A JOB WELL DONE!
ENTER THOU INTO THE JOY OF THY LORD!

James tells us that our faith is made manifest by our works.

So it is. So let it be DONE.

The qualities of a productive servant of our Savior are Goodness and Faithfulness.

Fidelity to our assigned duty is requisite for success in our labors.

The intrinsic fruit of Goodness* (Galatians 5:22) flowing from our human spirit which is indwelt by the Holy Spirit is the supply of creative and sustaining power that causes us to achieve our objective.

Let us therefore “gird up our loins” of motivational strength and press into our destiny which is made manifest to ourselves and to the world by the works of the Spirit that flow from our giftings with which we have been endowed by the LORD.
(Psalm 37:3-9; Matthew 5-7; 28:18-20; Acts 1:8; Romans 12; 1 Corinthians 12-14,  et al)

*”Goodness”: When God created all things he then looked upon them and declared them “TOV”—Good; a Completed Work according to the Divine Purpose for which it has been fashioned.
Thus, what the LORD Himself works in us is what is Good. Our goodness flows from His Presence at work in our surrendered lives to make us into the vessels of honor He intends us to be.
