FI Y4 WK 10 PARASHAH MIKEITZ (at the end) Genesis 41:1-44:17 ALL THINGS IN THEIR TIME

PART A: THE EXACT TIMING OF GOD

This parashah begins with the remarkable statement,

VA’YE’HI MI’KEITZ SHE’NA’TA’IM YAMIM

“And so it was (that) AT THE END OF TWO (FULL) YEARS OF DAYS”—

THIS MEANS, ON THE VERY LAST DAY OF TWO FULL YEARS OF DAYS—”TO THE DAY”! (STONE)

God timed Pharoah’s dream to coincide exactly with the second anniversary of Joseph’s interpretation of the dream of the saved Cupbearer of Pharoah! This made the coincidence stand out in the Cupbearer’s mind so that when Pharoah wanted to know the interpretation of his troubling dream, the Cupbearer would have the courage to tell the king about the man in prison who could accurately interpret dreams.

From dreaming to interpreting dreams, Joseph walked out his life of obedience to God through service wherever he found himself and stepped from the dirt of the pit to the house of the slave master to the den of the prison master TO THE THRONE OF THE KINGDOM!

Our Lord has walked through this world on our behalf, having descended from celestial glory to become clothed in human flesh. But having descended and served faithfully, even unto the death of the cross, he has now been raised again to glory and seated at the right hand of the Majesty of High! Principalities and powers being made subject to him! (Philippians 2:5-11; Colossians 2:15; Hebrews 2:5-8)

We too have been raised together with him! We too have been seated with him! Therefore, let us walk worthy of this high calling and spiritual privilege! Let us not grovel in the dirt of degradation no matter what the condition in which we find ourselves at any moment of our journey. For we are not subject to the spirit of the world; rather, we are the children of God our Father, King of all Creation. Let us be bold; let us be strong; for God is with us to bring us to glory, even the glory of Jesus our Lord. (Ephesians 1-3; Colossians 1-2; Hebrews 11-12; Revelation 21-22)

God’s timing for Joseph was EXACT TO THE DAY. It was at the end of a “fulness of time” that he was raised. So then, do not despise the dreary nature of the steps you have taken—or will take. Embrace your circumstances as opportunities to shine in the darkness of the world. Look upon these places as mere stepping stones to the elevation that is surely coming toward you.

If God be for you, who can be against you? (Romans 8:31)
